As drivers, we hate potholes; but as All Roadsters, we love them. Now that we’ve found a way to repair them five times faster than anyone else, we love them even more.

It accomplishes milling, sweeping, and jackhammering. You can also use the grappler for removing concrete or you can dig trenches with the excavating bucket.

All Roads successfully acquired The City of Vancouver's City-Wide Cut Repair Project in 2025. This rehabilitation project involves repairing asphalt, concrete curbs, and sidewalks in 1,800 locations around the Vancouver area. The City of Vancouver tendered this pilot project for an initial term of one year, with the option to extend it for up to four additional years based on its success. The value of this program is approximately $5.4 million per year.

In true All Roads fashion, we continuously seek more efficient ways to complete any type of work, and this project especially demands greater maneuverability, as it will require us to navigate through narrow back-alley roadways and residential streets with limited access for our heavy equipment. Thus, upon winning this contract, we immediately began searching for the next technological advancement that would help us overcome these space limitations and complete the project as efficiently as possible.

That is how we discovered the JCB Pothole Pro and, after further research and discussions with our local dealer, we learned that this machine had never yet been sold in Canada. The Pothole Pro can expedite the process of pothole preparation down to as little as eight minutes. With its impressive profile, we decided to demo this machine to determine if it would be a good fit for our project.

When we conducted the demonstration at our asphalt plant, we quickly and easily recognized the Pothole Pro's capability to meet our needs. This machine is a wheeled excavator that is equipped with a milling head on the front blade, a sweeper attachment on the stick of the excavator, a breaker attachment to square up the milling edges, and a grapple bucket for easy concrete removal. Additionally, the 180-degree swivel allows us to approach removal from different angles without needing to move the machine itself.

Without much question, we decided to invest in this machine, becoming the first paving contractor in Canada to appreciate its multi-purpose benefits. It has now been working with our crews in the City of Vancouver for about a month, and we are extremely pleased with its production and results.

"This machine is a five-in-one," says Steve Hayes, our project superintendent.

"It accomplishes milling, sweeping, and jackhammering. You can also use the grappler for removing concrete or you can dig trenches with the excavating bucket," says Hayes.

As All Roads' Denis Labelle, VP of Operations, puts it, "It is the Swiss Army knife of the road maintenance industry. It saves time, effort, and costs."

We are also very confident that the next four years will be awarded based on our team's reliable hard work, attention to detail, and the production we've achieved using the innovative JCB Pothole Pro.
